Note on Marriage

"An actor .. who drank!"5

Note on Wife: Anne Elizabeth HOWARD (1)

Betty Stephenson nee Radford (b1919), is a daughter of Annie Howard. It seems that Annie married "beneath her" and after Radford died in c1926 she was left to bring up 5 kids on her own in poverty. Some at least of her sibs were disapproving, (But not George or Flossie it would seem). Betty revealed that Radford was not her first husband. She had previously scandalised the Howards by marrying an actor (!), Harold Long, who drank(!). He seems to have died and Annie later surprised the family with an announcement that she had married

Radford (who came from Bow). Betty also let slip that no marriage lines were found after her mother died. Betty spent her childhood in and around Lugard Rd and attended Woods Rd school...

She has vague memories of Mary Howard (lovely) and of Eva (also lovely)and of my mum. She also visited George regularly towards the end of his life, and was extremely fond of him.5

Note on Wife: Anne Elizabeth HOWARD (2)

I see that Jessie Jaques lived in Cossal St..so did my aunt Annie

Radford the sister of George Howard I beleive from 1908 to 1945. Is it

possible she introduced George to Eva?6

Note on Wife: Anne Elizabeth HOWARD (3)
