Note on Husband: William EVANS - shared note

1841 Census:

[HO107/1438/8/21/11]

William, Jane and their children Mary, Margaret, Ann, David and Jane were all at New House [or Ty Newydd] Llangyniew.

It appears that Thomas Hughes and his family emigrated from Dolanog Mills to Racine, Wisconsin, USA in 1846 - therefore we may assume that William Evans moved from Ty Newydd to Dolanog Mills at about this time.

1851 Census:

[HO107/2499/233/3]

William, Jane and their daughters Jane, Catherine, Elizabeth, with Mary and Evan Jones, and their Grandaughter Mary (age 11 months) were all at the Mill Dolanog, along with five servants.

From: Hanes Methodistaeth Trefaldwyn Isaf - gan y Parch. Edward Griffith:

"The oldest man connected to the Old Chapel was Mr. D. Davies, Cae'n y Mynydd Hall, near Sardis, after that, Edward Tomley, Tyisaf, until he moved to Soar: R. Gittins the shop [...] 1860: W. Davies y Wig, Edward Evans y Pass, the last two right up until their death. Hugh Morris, until his departure to Pontrobert; Thomas Hughes the Mill, until his departure to America; W. Evans the Mill and Evan Jones the Mill both until their death. Dolanog Mill has, for a long time until fairly recently been a hospitable and welcoming place for the Ministers of the Word. The most prominent of these, and the most significant with regards to Dolanog in the last century was David Davies, the hall, who was referred to in the Sardis section.

Memorial in Sardis Chapel Cemetery:

"In memory of Jane Relict of William Evans of Dolanog Mill

Who died March 7 1875 aged 68

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints"

Also of Elizabeth daughter of the aforesaid William and Jane Evans who died July 23 1892 aged 44

In memory of William Evans Dolanog Mill who died June 18 1851 aged 47 years

also their son David Evans who died Decr 23 1848 aged 11 years"

Note on Wife: Jane OWENS - shared note

1861 Census:

[RG9/4260/40/2]

The widowed Jane now living at the Mill with her daughters Mary, Catherine and Elizabeth; her Son-in-law, Evan Jones, and her grandchildren, William, Margaret and Annie.

1871 Census:

[RG10/5628/?/2]

Dolanog Mill Evan and Mary, their children William and Annie, Mary's mother, Jane Evans, and (probably) Mary's sister, Elizabeth Evans, who was visiting.
