Note on Husband: William Owen ROBERTS - shared note
On William's birth certificate he is recorded as William Owens Roberts.
Later on he seems to lose the "s" from Owens.
Presumably the Owens was in respect of his Mother's maiden name.
In the 1881 Census William and Jane and their five children were living in Llanfair Road, Newtown. [RG11/5487/37]
They were still there in 1891 with an additional two children. [RG12/4593/95]
According to Shirley Morris (his G Grandaughter) the family lived at "The Beeches" house opposite Bryn Lane at the top of Llanfair Road.
It was demolished many years ago [this written in 2002].
Helen Bennett's mother remembered an old coach standing in the garden.
William was a sidesman at Llanllwchaiarn Parish Church.

For the last 12 years of her life, Jane lived at 11 Dysert Terrace, Canal Rd, Newtown, with her daughter Ethel and family.
For several years before that she had lived with other daughters in turn since her son Thomas Owen sold the family home on the death of his father when he took over the family business.
This caused much ill feeling in the family and none of the sisters spoke to Thomas again, except for Mary Jane ( my grandmother) who according to Shirley,only saw good in everyone!
