of me JANE HOADLY of Brighton in the County of Sussex Widow I appoint my brother in-law Edward Hoadly and my friend James Hamblin of No 6 Dorset Gardens Brighton aforesaid Gentleman to be the EXECUTORS and Trustees of this my Will.
I give and bequeath to each of them the said Edward Hoadly and James Hamblin who shall consent to prove and act in the trusts of this my Will the sum of fifty pounds free of duty
And I give and bequeath to my daughter Clara Ann Helen the wife of George Herbert Graham and to my son in law the said George Herbert Graham the sum of One hundred pounds each to my stepdaughter Mary
Pragnell One hundred pounds and to her two children namely George Seabrook Pragnell and Thomas W. Pragnell the sum of One hundred pounds each And I give devise and bequeath all my real estate (if any) and all the residue of my personal estate to and to the use of my said Trustees Upon trust as and when they shall think fit to realize and convert into money so much thereof as may not consist of cash or authorised securities and to invest such cash and the Proceeds of such conversion (after paying thereout my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and legacies) in their own names upon the securities hereinafter authorised and to hold my said residue until and after conversion Upon trust to pay the income therefrom to my said daughter Clara Ann Helen Graham during her life And shall after the death of my said daughter hold the said residue and the investments thereof Upon such trusts and subject to such powers and provisions for the benefit of any child or children or remoter issue of my said daughter (to be born in her lifetime) as she shall notwithstanding coverture by any deed or deeds with or without power of revocation or by tier Will or any testamentary instrument appoint And in default of and subject to any such appointment Upon trust to pay or equally divide the same to or among the child or children of my said daughter who shall be living at her death and being a son or sons attain the age of twenty one years or being a daughter or daughters attain that ago or marry and the issue living at her death of any child or children of my said daughter who shall have died before her such issue to take the share or respective shares their parent or respective parents would have taken if he she or they had survived her and attained the age of twenty one years and (if more than one) in equal shares And in default of and subject to any and every beneficial interest to be indefeasibly acquired under the trusts aforesaid and subject to any advancement under the power herein contained my Trustees 0r Trustee shall stand possessed of tae said residue and of the investments thereof Upon such trusts as my said daughter shall (notwithstanding any coverture) by Will appoint and subject to any such appointment Upon trust for the executors administrators or assigns of my said daughter absolutely I declare that no child or other issue of my said daughter who or any of whose issue shall take any part of the said residue or of the investments thereof under any such appointment as aforesaid shall be entitled to any share of the unappointed part of tae residuary trust funds without bringing the share or shares appointed to him or her or his or her issue into hotchpot and accounting for the same accordingly unless my said daughter shall by any such appointment as aforesaid direct the contrary And that my Trustees or Trustee may at any time or times with the consent in writing of my said daughter during her life and afterwards at their or his discretion raise and apply for the benefit or advancement in life of any issue of my said daughter not more than one half of his or her expectant share Provided always and I hereby declare that my Trustees or Trustees,, rosy at any time after the death of my said daughter apply the whole or such part as they or he stall think fit of the income of the expectant or presumptive share of any child or other issue of my said daughter under the trusts hereinbefore contained for or towards the maintenance and education or otherwise for the benefit of such child or other issue whether or not there is any other fund applicable to the same purpose or any person bound by law to provide for the maintenance or education of such child or other issue empower my Trustees or Trustee at their or his discretion to do ail or any of the following things that is to say To postpone for the benefit of my estate the sale of any property hereinbefore directed to be sold and that notwithstanding that the property the sale or conversion whereof shall be so postponed may be of leasehold tenure or may he otherwise of n perishable or wearing out nature And to invest any money for the time being subject to and not immediately required for the purposes of the trusts of my Will in or ?upon any of the public stocks or funds or Government or Parliamentary securities of the United Kingdom or India or of any British Colony Dependency or possession or upon any securities the interest on which is guaranteed by Parliament or in stock of the Bank of England or of the Metropolitan Board of Works or upon real or leasehold securities in England or Wales but not elsewhere such leasehold securities being held for a term whereof sixty years at least shall be unexpired at the date of investment or in or upon the debentures debenture stock preference stock or preference shares of any Railway Company in Great Britain or guaranteed Railway Company in India paying a dividend upon its ordinary stock or shares or in or upon the bonds debentures or securities of or issued by any public municipal or local body or authority in the United Kingdom or on the security of rates or tolls made or levied by any such body or authority To vary any investments for the time being representing trust property for any other authorised investment To accept for the purpose of investment whatever title or evidence of title shall appear to my Trustees to be sufficient and to lend on the security of leasehold hereditaments without investigating or requiring the production of the lessor's title I declare that the statutory powers for the appointment from time to time of new Trustees of this my Will shall be exercisable by my said daughter during her life And I hereby revoke all former Wills and testamentary dispositions and declare this paper writing contained in three sheets 0f paper to be my only last Pink marble cross with pediment and curb. Viewed by Graham Hoadly 10th May 2005 - when it was absolutely overgrown with creeper, Ivy and tough vegetation. All cleared away by bare hands and the memorial revealed once more.
This is the inscription - inset lead lettering:
