Note on Husband: William Howell GITTINS - shared note
Conversation with Tom Jones of 2 Vine Buildings, Ruyton XI Towns 2002:
Tom Jones in 2002 was 77 years of age. He left school in August 1939.
Tom lived all his life in Ruyton, and recalled as a young child playing around Vine buildings where Lucy Owen and her daughter Mary lived.
Tom recalled that Mary was known as "Polly" Owen - and that the two women were laundresses.
They lived at Number 3 Vine Buildings, and in those days the laundry was a wooden building at the side of the house.
He remembers that the laundry had two boilers, and that there were a lot of ashes from the fires there.
There was a water pump at the back of the houses.
William Howell Gittins of Hall Farm, Ruyton founded Ruyton Creameries (which was eventually sold to the US firm Kraft.)
"Billy" Gittins was married but his wife, Mary Ellen, was ill and an invalid.
They had at least three children Doris, Enid and Wilfred.
After the death of Mrs. Gittins, Billy married Polly Owen and they settled in Rhyl where they both died. This would have been around 1940. [Actually 1948]
Wilfred Gittins had two sons, John and Michael - one of whom still lives at Hall Farm in Ruyton (2002).

Note on Wife: Mary Deakin OWEN (2)
Una Williams has photos of the wedding - she attended herself aged 17.
Polly died of Cancer - in her 80s. After her husband died she was left penniless, and went to live with Iris Dyer (her half niece) in Llangollen.8
