Individual Note

I have had - (and been puzzled by) this burial for many years and could find no obvious connection with my Hoadly family.

However, with the fascinating discovery in 2008 of the connection between the Hoadly's and Waterfalls

namely

Samuel Hoadly (b. 1806) married Emily Gunter, granddaughter of Thomas Gunter and Mary Waterfall who married in Westminster in 1757.

Samuel's brother, John Charles Hoadly, married Mary Broomfield, daughter of George Broomfield and Mary Waterfall (b. 1761).

Mary Gunter (nee Waterfall) was the aunt of Mary Broomfield (nee Waterfall).

As Samuel Hoadly and Emily Gunter didn't marry until 1827, it seems reasonable to suppose that Leonard Waterfall Hoadly may have been the first-born of John Charles Hoadly and Mary Broomfield who married in January 1821.

It would make sense that Leonard may have been named for his Grandmother Mary (nee Waterfall).

Later on John Charles and Mary Broomfield's daughter Catherine Rhodes Hoadly (b. 1828) was presumably named for her paternal grandmother, Catherine Rhodes.
