REVIEWS
“ … a good panto is highlighted by the comic song ‘I Think of You Dear’ sung by the Emperor and the excellent Widow Twankey (Graham Hoadly) …”
Tara Conlan; The Stage 11 January 2001
“ … longtime Hudd associate Chris Emmett restricts himself to directing, passing on the ceremonial striped bloomers of the dame to Graham Hoadly. Hoadly’s Widow Twankey starts out a mite on the restrained side, but only in relative panto terms, and comes into his/her own by the curiously plotless second half …”
Ian Shuttleworth; Financial Times 27 December 2000
“… performances across the board were very good, but my personal favourites were … the dame, Widow Twankey (an hysterically funny Graham Hoadly). The dame’s frock in the final scene is really something special! …”
Estelle Sinkins; The Bucks Examiner 15 December 2000
“ … in Graham Hoadly, as Widow Twankey, and Michael Vivian, as Wishee Washee, the Palace has found another hilarious duo who … carried the comic torch magnificently …”
Charlie Harris; The Watford Observer 8 December 2000
“ … Graham Hoadly is a wonderful Widow Twankey – a pantomime dame par excellence – whose wardrobe is a sight to behold.
When not decked out as Liz Hurley, complete with safety pins holding her dress together, she looks like a walking standard lamp.
His/her scenes with David Monico’s Emperor of China are a high spot of the pantomime, particularly their duet ‘I Think of You’ …”

GRAHAM'S REMINISCENCES
A very jolly Dame debut with a great company, marred only by my contracting virulent food poisoning one Saturday matinee, and having to play that night with buckets in the wings! An absolute nightmare. Minutes before my first entrance that night I was being very bilious in the tiny toilet conscious only of being careful to avoid splattering my enormous bust! One of my most surreal experiences in the theatre! My belated apologies to anyone who saw the show that night.
